“The perfect mixture of sound & design”
Are you looking for a way to listen to music while on the walk? The Harman Kardon Esquire Mini is the perfect solution in this case. The device is a portable speaker with good audio capacities and a great design that will easily fit in your pocket.
Even more, you can connect it to your phone via Bluetooth and listen to music while driving, working or simply enjoying some free time in the park with friends. You might be fooled by the size, as the Esquire Mini is indeed quite small and fits easily in your hand, but it packs a powerful sound with all the right nuances a speaker should have. Actually, the small size and the slick design are features we absolutely love, especially if you make the comparison with the bulky Creative Sound Blaster Roar 2.
We loved the fact that the device is simple in terms of design and it doesn’t pack anything too complicated, technology wise. Everything is simple and elegant and the connection is done automatically without too much hassle. But, before we lay down an opinion, let’s see the main features this great device packs.
The Harman Kardon Esquire Mini Wireless Portable Speaker
Design & Special features
This device seems to be created for portability and ease of use. First of all, it’s small (we need to highlight this). The case measures a bit under 6 inches in length and is 3 inches high while weighing just 0.5 pounds. You can actually compare it with an HTC One M8 in size but keep in mind that it is a bit thicker (stick 2 smartphones together and you’ll get the thickness for the Esquire Mini).
The front side is covered with a silver mesh and a plastic grill to protect the 4 watt speakers and allow the sound to come out crisp and clear. The back side is usually covered in a leather-like material that is scratch resistant and won’t wear off after a few uses. Even more, to make the experience even better, the back side is equipped with a chrome kickstand so you can direct the sound whichever way you want.
The Harman Kardon Esquire Mini can be found in 3 variations of color (black, brown, and silver) and the overall look is elegant and stylish. However, there are a few more interesting features to consider like the available ports:
- 5 mm auxiliary
The device is also equipped with a power button, buttons for volume up and down, and a phone button. Thus, you will be able to answer phones and use the speaker as a Bluetooth device for your phone. Also, the phone button has the Play/Pause functionality when you’re not answering a call. To mute the speaker, you simply need to press both volume buttons at the same time. This way, by implementing dual functionalities on the button, the Harman Kardon managed to keep things simple and easy to understand.
What good is a beautiful looking speaker if it doesn’t deliver on the audio side? The Esquire Mini is indeed small but manages to pack quite a punch when it comes to sound clarity and boost. It will adapt well to both small spaces like the car or your office, but it will also manage to boost the mood in a large room. However, you must keep in mind that this is more of a speaker phone so the bass won’t be as punchy.
The Esquire Mini is also equipped with a dual microphone with noise cancellation that will allow you to use the device as a Bluetooth speaker when on the phone.
The battery is a 2,000 mAh Lithium model that is quite capable to sustain such a powerful speaker. As advertised, you will have about 8 hours of continuous play time and you can charge your phone from the speaker’s battery if you are in an emergency situation. However, as expected, charging the phone from the battery may completely deplete it so you can’t expect the speaker to work afterwards.
- A beautiful design
- Small in size
- Easy to carry around
- The sound quality is quite good for its size
- Accessibility when it comes to ports
- The bass is a bit too small for certain music genres
- No battery indicator
We really loved this small speaker with a stylish design from Harman Kardon. The Esquire Mini is indeed cute and does a good job in terms of audio performance and battery life.
