“The perfect audio experience, without interferences and in extreme comfort”
Bose is one of the biggest names in the audio industry so it’s no surprise to know that the new on-ears they created provide both comfort and quality. Actually, the main features that will mesmerize you exist in their name: QuietComfort 35. These headphones support active noise cancellation for an audio-only experience and the fold-up wireless design is extremely comfortable.
So, besides the amazing sound quality, the QuietComfort 35 from Bose offers complete freedom. Thus, you can keep away the humming in your office or the general noise created by people’s voices in a crowded bus with no strings attached (A thing that wasn’t possible with the previous model, the QC 25).
Design and Comfort
In terms of design, Bose follows the same simple and elegant line we all know and love in the QuietComfort series. The QC 35 design is on-ear and the headband is wider, improving the head fit and comfort. Also, the QuietComfort 35 is a bit heavier (100g+) than the previous model due to the integrated rechargeable battery. Still, this doesn’t hinder the level of comfort in any way.
The fold-up design allows you to lay the headphones flat on any surface and thus, protect them from accidents.
The Bose QC 35 is available in two colors: silver and black.
Build Quality and Cable
Since we’re talking about a high-end product, users will expect a sturdy build that feels good in the hands, as well as on the head. And this is exactly what Bose delivers: high-quality materials that don’t retain fingerprints or smudges and comfortable suede ear cushions that keep the temperature at a constant level. This means your ears won’t overheat after wearing them for a long time, which is a feature every professional product supports. A good example is the HD 800 from Sennheiser or the Audeze Sine – they all manage to successfully handle overheating.
There is also a 3.5mm jack cable that you can connect if you want or if the battery dies. According to some users, the Bose QC 35 sounds a little better in the wired form but this is a subjective opinion.
You must consider two elements when discussing performance with QC 35: noise cancellation and sound clarity. Bose engineers are geniuses when it comes to noise cancellation but this time they chose to go with muffling the outside noises instead of cutting them off completely. It is a nice effect that gives space to your thoughts without cutting you from the world.
In terms of audio quality, most closed back headphones struggle. Still, the QC 35 manages to deliver an accurate sound even at the lowest levels where some of the notes are usually lost. While they may not be perfect for professionals and audiophiles, the rest of the world loves them. So, to resume, the sound quality is above expectations, especially considering the fact that you’ll be streaming via Bluetooth.
We should also discuss battery performance. Here is where Bose finally did things extremely right and ditched the AAA batteries in favor of a rechargeable, integrated, Li-Ion battery. According to users, the battery holds for about 20h of continuous usage on a single charge. Well, this is quite impressive!
The only problem is that the QC 35 doesn’t have an auto shut down feature to help you save battery. So, if you don’t close them when you take them off, the battery will continue to drain. And it takes about 2h to fully recharge.
The QuietComfort 35 from Bose is a simple model so you shouldn’t expect to find a lot of accessories. Besides the removable cable, they also come with a protective case which is very elegant and effective in keeping dust and any other contaminants away.
Another accessory is the two-pronged airplane adapter which is great if you use airlines where Bluetooth isn’t allowed during flight. Be advised, though, the ANC and audio equalizer don’t work when the wire is connected.
- Great noise canceling system
- Great for calls wherever you are
- Very comfortable
- Long battery life
- ANC can’t be turned off while on battery
- No auto shut down
- A bit heavier than previous models
The Bose QuietComfort 35 is the proof that wireless technology is taking huge steps in the audio industry. With a great ANC system, a fantastic equalizer, and a 20h battery life, these headphones are something to think about. QC 35 is the very definition of a great audio experience without the hassle of wires.
